  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Nearly all the photos in this collection depict members of the Blaxland family, via Louisa Jane Blaxland, the Hays family, via Richard Blaxland Hays, or Kopsen family members.

Louisa Jane was daughter of Arthur Blaxland (1816-1894), son of John Blaxland (1769-1845) and Henriette (née de Marquet). Richard Blaxland Hays was son of Jane Hays (née Blaxland), who was the daughter of Gregory Blaxland (1778-1853).

Richard and Louisa were cousins who married and thus both direct descendants of John and Gregory Blaxland, two brothers of an early pioneer family in Australia.

In 1884, Richard and Louisa had a daughter Dorothy Emily (1884 - 1984) who married Eric Kopsen in 1910. Their daughters Betty (b. 1912) and Margaret (b. 1914) appear among the photographs.
