    Hereward John Humfry Henchman was the grandson of William Henchman and Jane Mcilraish Wallace who emigrated to Australia from England in 1878. He was admitted to the NSW Bar in 1929 and in 1968 was appointed a Judge of all District Courts in NSW.
    He married Nancy White in 1934. Nancy was a member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestral Subscribers' Committee.

    In 1939, his sister, Gwynneth Wallace Henchman, married Lieutenant-Commander Varnum Cochran Southworth. She worked for the English-Speaking Union in Washington DC from 1953-1982. She was appointed MBE in 1969 for services rendered to Anglo-American relations.

    Comprises papers relating to the families of Hereward John Humfry Henchman, QC (1904-1994), Nancy Henchman (nee White), and the Sydney Symphony Orchestral Subscribers' Committee.

    Box 6: Correspondence between Nancy White, her family and others during her time spent as a missionary in Papua New Guinea from 1948 to 1967. There is also a series of Newsletters produced by White and mailed out to a list of interested people.
