Niemat Darar was born in 1971 in the Nuba Mountains area of Sudan, later moving to Khartoum and then Egypt to escape the war and genocide in Sudan. With her husband and children, she came to Australia as a sponsored migrant, settling in Orange in regional New South Wales.
