  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Deng Adut, a lawyer and refugee advocate, was born in 1983 in Sudan, in the area which is now the independent country South Sudan. His family was deeply affected by two civil wars and famine, and he was conscripted, at the age of six, into the army. After escaping with his brother and spending 18 months in a refugee camp in Kenya, he came to Australia in 1998. He obtained accounting, and later law, qualifications and has completed a Master of Laws in Criminal Prosecution.
