There are two files. The first and largest file is for the year 1969. This was the year the then chief executive, A. H. McLachlan, was away ill having suffered a coronary. Sir Warwick stepped in and became involved in the day to day running of the company. The second file covers the two-year period 1973-1974. The memos cover matters relating to staff, industrial troubles, production, circulation and advertising. The following are highlights:-
1) Transcript of Maxwell Newton's speech to the Advertising Club in Perth, April 6.
2) ROP (run of press) colour advertising in Sydney Morning Herald
3) Evan Williams signing the anti-Vietnam manifesto.
4) Announcement by the Canberra Times of its new afternoon paper, the "Canberra News".
5) Helvetica type to be used for double-column classifieds.
6) Union agreement on Computerised Typesetting Agreement.
7) Reaction of "Reveille" to Sydney Morning Herald Leader of August 22.
8) Conviction of Guy Morrison and Bert Castellari for "Having encouraged young men to defy the National Service Act".
9) Probable need to produce a 116-page Sydney Morning Herald early in 1970.
10) Lady Lloyd Jones's memoirs written by Evan Williams.
