  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Women’s Liberation Movement in Sydney started in 1969 with meetings of women who had been active in the anti-war movement and other radical causes. The Women's Liberation Group held its inaugural meeting on 14 January 1970.

    Frank Moorhouse is an award-winning Australian writer whose work includes short stories, novels, essays and screenplays. In the 1960s and 1970s he was identified as 'Balmain writer', one of a group of politically radical writers whose influences included the 'Sydney Libertarianism' of John Anderson.

    This material formed part of Frank Moorhouse’s papers, which were acquired from him by the Fryer Library, University of Queensland. The material relates to NSW, so the Fryer Library donated it to the State Library of New South Wales.
