  • Attributions / conjectures

The watercolour has been attributed to John Thompson (1800-1860) who arrived in Sydney in 1827 and worked as a principal draftsman in the colony, eventually becoming deputy Surveyor General from 1854 until his retirement in 1860.

Attribution is based on similar drawings in an album by John Thompson (held at DL PXX 31) that are stylistically similar in the delineation of the foliage in the trees and the application of the wash.
