Art In Australia was founded by Sydney Ure-Smith and Bertram Stevens in 1916. It was first published half-yearly but quickly became a quarterly. March 1930 was the last issue as a quarterly. June-July 1933 saw the commencement as a bi-monthly magazine. In December that year it ceased to be a bi-monthly and in February 1934 it reverted to being a quarterly publication. In September 1934 it was announced that John Fairfax & Sons had purchased Art in Australia and the Home Magazine. August 18, 1942 was the date of Art In Australia's last publication - Scope and ContentArt In Australia began in 1916 and ceased in 1942. Fairfax purchased the magazine in 1934.
