Amalgamated Television Services Ltd was initially a consortium consisting of four shareholders
1) 2GB Pty Ltd; Macquarie Broadcasting Service Pty Ltd and Artransa Pty Ltd
2) AWA and Email Ltd
3) John Fairfax & Sons Pty Ltd; Associated Newspapers Ltd and its subsidiary radio station 2UE
4) Australian Broadcasting Co. Pty Ltd operators of radio station 2UW
R.A. Henderson (Managing Director of John Fairfax & Sons) was the first chairman.
The company was reluctant to list as a public company but in early 1957 more capital was required. Fairfax took additional shares making ATN officially a subsidiary. In 1961 this holding was increased to 79% to enable Amalgamated Television to acquire the telefilm division of Artransa Pty Ltd (Atransa Park Television Pty Limited) The Fairfax holding further increased to 94% in 1964
The telefilm division of Artransa became Artransa Park Television Pty Limited and operated as a subsidiary to Amalgamated Television Services Pty Limited.

This sub-series consists of 168 files containing records of the operation of Amalgamated Television Services Ltd (broadcasters of channel ATN 7) and Artransa Park Television, companies which John Fairfax Limited controlled through it's subsidiary company Fairfax Corporation Pty Ltd and other related companies.
