First company secretary was Herbert Edward Dadswell appointed in 1916 following the incorporation of Fairfax & Sons.
Scotford Company Secretary during 1950s. And again 1971-1975. He was secretary for Associated Newspapers

This large series contains 10 sub series of Company Secretary files. The records in this series were kept or created by the Company Secretary. Not all records have the origins with the Company Secretary with files such as the Herald Assurance Society records perhaps transferred to the Company. The nature of John Fairfax & Sons being a family business is evident from the number of records relating to Fairfax family affairs rather than business affairs. It may have been the company secretary took care of family matters as well.
