James Peters was established following the acquisition of the business of James Peters of 28 Hunter Street, Sydney in February 1952. Following the constitution of the Company James Peters was the Governing Director and Robert Matthew Wreathall was a Director. The initial registered office was at 2/12 Carrington Street, Sydney . On 19 April 1956 the business transferred to the Broadway Office of John Fairfax & Sons Pty. Ltd. On 11 June 1963 it was resolved at a meeting of the Directors that a Branch register be opened in Canberra and on 20 June 2546 shares were transferred from the Sydney to the Canberra register.

The register includes

4. Register of members; and
5. Annual Return of a Company having Share Capital.
The Application and Allotment Register shows the date of the application, full name, address and occupation of the applicant; number of shares allotted, distinctive numbers, details of payment and the Register of members folio number
The Transfer Journal shows the transfer number, date of transfer share numbers, signature of transferor and transferee; register of members folio numbers and date confirmed by the Board.
The Register of Members shows the full name, address and occupation of the member, the date of transfer and share numbers with similar information covering shares disposed of.
The Annual Return of a Company shows the official name of the company, registered office and date that the return was completed, nominal capital, list of members.
