  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Herald Benefit Society was established in 1856 and the Provident Fund was established in 1893
    The objects of the Society shall be 1. to afford monetary relief to members while unable, from ill health or insanity, to attend to their occupation (such ill health or insanity not being the result of intemperance or other impropriety); and 2. to afford to members, their wives, and any members of their families under the age of 16, medical advise with attendance and medicines when necessary.
    Members : From and after the passing of these Rules any male employee over the age of 18 and under 40 years who shall accept employment in the "Herald" Office shall be eligible for membership on presenting the official form of the Society duly filled-in and signed by the Medical Officer and the member that he is of sound condition.
