From 1992, she coordinated oral history projects for the National Library of Australia (NLA), including Post-war Chinese Australians, and The Khmer Community in Australia. Her books include 'Astronauts, Lost Souls and Dragons' (University of Queensland Press, 1997) and 'Beyond Chinatown' (NLA, 1995).
Her tours have included visits to a wide variety of communities, including Chinese, Khmer, Indonesian, Estonian, Polish, Uruguayan, Italian, Greek, Sikh, Hindu, Jewish, Japanese, Samoan, Laotian, Turkish, Egyptian, Portuguese, Burmese, Sierra Leonean and Tanzanian communities, Nordic, French, Russian, Iranian, Serbian and Filipino communities.
Locations across Sydney have included: Lakemba and Auburn (Islamic communities), Marrickville (Portuguese and Greek), Granville (Sierra Leonean and Tanzanian), and Leichhardt (Italian community).
