    Louis Nowra is one of Australia's most acclaimed and prolific writers. He was born Mark Doyle in 1950 in Melbourne and studied at Melbourne's La Trobe University. He came to prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s as the leading figure in the second wave of modern Australian drama. He has written plays, musical theatre and opera libretti, and worked with theatre companies, taught drama at the University of Queensland and written for ABC radio drama and television. Nowra’s best known plays are Cosi (1992) and Radiance (1993), both of which were made into successful feature films.
