The Australian Japanese War Bride Group, originally known as the Cherry Blossom Club, was formed in 1946 and derives its name from Cherry Parker, the first Japanese war bride to arrive in Australia. The interviews evolved as a result of Louise Whelan meeting Mrs Hideko Coombes during a Japanese war bride gathering in Sydney between 20 and 23 October 2015.
