  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The Lindsay and Dyson families knew each other well and were interconnected through marriage. Pearl and Ruby Lindsay were younger sisters of Norman and Lionel Lindsay. Ruby became well known as an illustrator and painter and married the brilliant political cartoonist Will Dyson, younger brother of Ambrose Dyson, also a political cartoonist. Jean Dyson married Lionel Lindsay. Pearl was one of the few Lindsays who did not achieve fame.

This photograph was probably taken by Lionel Lindsay at a Lindsay family gathering at the Lindsay home in Creswick around the time of Ruby’s marriage to Will Dyson in September 1909.
