  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Keith Sydney Butler was a 14-year-old boy of Balmain, Sydney, who died of Spanish Influenza in 1919. He was interred in the North Sydney Congregational Cemetery, Gore Hill.
The Spanish Flu pandemic (January 1918 – December 1920) was unusually deadly. It infected 500 million people across the world, including remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and resulted in the deaths of 50 to 100 million, approximately three to five percent of the world’s population. In Australia, nearly 12,000 people perished during the pandemic.
