  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Following industrial disputes over the issue of HIV/AIDS in 1984, a Trade Union Working Party on Aids was formed. The objective was to educate the Trade Union Movement and officials about the complex issues involved such as Occupational Health and Safety and discrimination. Some activities undertaken by the Working Party includes workshops 1984-1986, input into the development of the NSW Labor Council and ACTU policies on AIDS and the development of the ACTU-VTHC Health and Safety Bulletin No. 45 Information Paper on AIDS, the first publication on AIDS by a Labour organisation in the world. When the AIDS Council of NSW formed in 1995, the Working Party operated as part of the ACON. The HIV/AIDS Community Development Project was a program initiated by Pride, and commenced 3 July 1995
