Peter Darren Moyle was a Sydney-based photographer who, having lived on the streets himself, rose to success through photographs he had taken of homeless people around the Woolloomooloo and Kings Cross areas. A documentary of his life and work was produced in 2002: “Painting With Light in a Dark World” (SBS). He died in his Bourke Street housing department flat in 2006.

The donor was a friend and associate of Moyle, who gave her the photographs as a gift in 2003.

Two photographic portraits, being:
1. [Portrait of Anneke, Bourke St squats, 1993]. A head and shoulders portrait in which a woman gazes directly at the camera. Ink inscription on verso: "PSDM 2.6.03"
2. [Peter Darren Moyle self-portrait, 2003]. Taken in Moyle's bedroom, the image shows the photographer after he has set up a tripod and leapt off the bed. Details of the room can be seen around him. Ink inscription on verso: "For Beck, see you in the soup. Love PSDM"
