  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Australian composer Ross Edwards (1943- ) wrote the nativity play Quem Quaeritis as a student in the 1960s. The work was performed at the Melbourne Town Hall on 8 March 1973 for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's Prom Concert No.3. A planned television broadcast of the performance was cancelled at the last minute, but the concert went ahead. It was performed by soloists Simon Nette (boy soprano), Geraldine Rose (mezzo-soprano) and Jonathan Summers (baritone), with the Kenneth Taylor Singers and Boys' Voices from the Junior School of Scotch College, conducted by John Hopkins.

  • Scope and Content
    1. Bound photocopied manuscript score of Quem Quaeritis by Ross Edwards. Completed Nov. 1967, Adelaide; revised 1971-72, London, York and Sydney. Annotated on cover "TV Control Score - Master", with pencil annotations of camera and lighting cues throughout score. Loose inserted revised pages to replace original pages 36-40. The original removed pages are crossed out and annotated "Withdrawn 28/12/72".
