    Suzanne Baker is a feminist, journalist and film producer who has worked for a variety of media companies including the Australian Broadcasting Commission and Film Australia, and newspapers such as The Sydney Morning Herald. Her thesis explores the influence of female writers on the development of slang and idiom, and that this "provided substantial, largely unacknowledged material to Sidney J. Baker in his historical records of Australianisms in 'The Australian Language' and it's sequel, 'Australia Speaks'." (p.1)

Suzanne Baker goes on to discuss the contributions made by female authors in comparison to their male contemporaries upon the development of slang between the war years.
