    This collection comprises four articles published in Volunteers Voices, August 2006, December 2008, April 2009, August 2009. In these articles, Kenneth Gray uses primary sources to record the history of the Library from its beginnings in 1826 to 1869 when the NSW Government purchased the Australian Subscription Library to form the Sydney Free Public Library, the first truly public library in NSW.
