Gerrit Fokkema is an experienced press and freelance photographer. Born in New Guinea in 1954, but raised in Canberra, he worked as a press and news photographer for the Canberra Times, Sydney Morning Herald and the Good Weekend Magazine 1975-1987. He then started his own photography company (Gerrit Fokkema Photography Pty Ltd) which he has operated for the past 30 years. He is most well-known for his sparse urban landscapes photographs and portraits. His work is held by the Australian National Gallery, Art Gallery of NSW and State Library of NSW, and has been exhibited at the Australian Centre for Photography (1979), commercial galleries and various group shows.
He has had a longstanding interest in the Indigenous community in Wilcannia and in 1986 published Wilcannia: Portrait of an Australian Town (Sydney : Harper & Row, 1986).

Comprises 29 digital photographs of the cruise ships Ovation of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas and Astor in Sydney Harbour. Also includes passengers with luggage walking along Circular Quay and at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.
