Includes autobiographical sketch by Henry Lawson with chapters by O'Connor on Henry Lawson; his father Peter Larsen; mother, Louisa Lawson (nee Albury); his maternal grandparents; sister, Gertrude; and with chapters titled "Three Generations: a Psychological Study" being a "study" of Peter Larsen, Henry and Jim Lawson; "Henry Lawson's Life as revealed in his work"; "Henry Lawson's Life as expressed by his own composition"; and "Report of George Z. Dupain ... on Mr. 'Jim' Lawson, son of Henry Lawson and Bertha, his wife".
Also includes copies of speeches made by Louisa Lawson on women's suffrage, 23 May 1889 and 13 June 1891; family tree of the Albury family; facsimiles of Peter and Louisa Lawson's marriage certificate, 7 July 1866 with Henry Albury's permission for Louisa to marry; and Henry Lawson's birth certificate, 24 July 1867.
