  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Henry Edward Vaux was born 14 July 1801 in Bramfield, England, the son of John Vaux and Elizabeth Louisa Liddiard. He was educated at Exeter College and then admitted to Oxford University to study for a Bachelor of Arts Degree and matriculated on 23 Mar 1822, aged 20.
    Henry held a Government Office at Lisbon and was appointed Deputy Assistant Commissary
    General of the 4th Kings Own Regiment on Norfolk Island in 1831. At this time his brother-in-law, Lieutenant Colonel James Thomas Morisset (husband to Emily Vaux Morisset) was Commandant on Norfolk Island.
    On the 4 March 1834 Henry was swept off rocks whilst fishing at Kingston, Norfolk Island. His body was never found.
