  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Alexander MacCormick [1856-1947], surgeon, was born in Argyllshire, Scotland and went to Australia in 1883 to teach at the University of Sydney. During World War I he was commissioned in the Australian Army Medical Corps in Lemnos and also served with the British Expeditionary Force as colonel and surgeon in France. He married Ada Fanny Hare in 1895. In 1927 he supervised the building of a schooner, 'Ada', in Scotland, which he sailed to Sydney in four months, via the Panama Canal.
