Margaret (Marjorie) Purvis Proctor was born on the 16 June 1898 in Ashfield and died in St Vincent’s hospital Darlinghurst on 12 February 1985. Marjorie married George Brodsky, a linguist, lawyer and writer, in 1941. Ms Brodsky, a resident of Edgecliff, NSW, was a composer and lyricist. She was a strong supporter of the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (RSPCA) and a member of the Cat Protection Society. She actively promoted animal rights and her cats featured in the Australian Women’s Weekly (including a cover) and Woman’s Day.

Scrapbook 1: Plea for Kitty
Contains three short works in typescript entitled 'A Plea for Kitty', 'Our Cats as Models' and 'The Taming of the Tinytotovitch'. Works have photographs dispersed throughout the text.
Scrapbook 2: Pom Pom's Christmas Party
Contains one work entitled 'Pom Pom's Christmas Party'. A contents page appears at the front of the scrapbook, and is followed by the play, which is dispersed with black and white, as well as colour photographs and printed text.
