  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    William (Bill) T. Cooper, 1934-2015, was an Australian artist best known for his ornithological illustration of birds. He originally trained as a landscape and seaside artist but began to focus on natural history illustration after the successful reception for his first book A portfolio of Australian birds (Sydney : Reed, 1968). After this publication Cooper teamed up with Canberra ornithologist Joseph Forshaw with whom he went on to publish eight books including their last work Pigeons and Doves in Australia.

  • Scope and Content
    Collection comprises 31 watercolour plates used as full page illustrations and 19 sheets of vignettes used as smaller illustrations in Pigeons and Doves in Australia (CSIRO Publishing : Collingwoods, Vic., 2015).
