Walter Bunning established his architectural firm in 1945 in Sydney and invited Charles Madden into a partnership in 1946. Kevin John Smith joined Bunning & Madden in 1950 and was made partner in 1960. In addition to Liner House, Smith was involved with other Bunning & Madden projects including the National Library of Australia, International House at the University of Sydney and Anzac House, Sydney. Smith died in 2006.

12 architectural drawings by the architectural firm Bunning & Madden for Liner House, located at 13-15 Bridge Street, Sydney. The building was erected in 1959 as the Australian headquarters of Wilh Wilhelmsen Agency Pty Ltd, Norway’s largest shipping organisation. The building’s contribution to modern commercial architecture within a significant streetscape was recognised by the R.A.I.A. Sulman Award in 1961. Also included in the collection are 4 architectural drawings for an unidentified house by Kevin John Smith and 1 drawing entitled ‘Thai Airways existing layout’.
