  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Jane Eliza Currie nee Wood, born in England, was a miniature and watercolour painter. Currie arrived at the Swan River Colony on the Parmelia on 1 June 1829, and first lived on Garden Island before moving to Matilda Bay on 1 June 1830, where her husband Captain Currie had selected part of his 12,200 acre grant. While living in Western Australia Jane Currie painted miniature portraits, natural history subjects and views. She returned to England with her husband and their two children on 12 August 1832.

  • Scope and Content
    VOLUME 1
    Five small sepia paintings of Port Macquarie, River Hastings, Careening Bay, Cambridge Gulf, and Port Essington; pencil sketches of rural cottages, trees, ships and vessels; various buildings and landscapes on the Isle of Wight; face and profile of young woman; various doodles.
