    “This picture of the American ship “Lowell” (Captain Knowle) unloading the last recorded shipment of ice on the eastern side of Circular Quay in the year 1855, is drawn from contemporary prints. The ice house stood on the site of the present Blackwall Stores and the cargo consisted of 500 tons of ice and 44 “Refrigerators”
