    Joseph Grego (1843-1908) was an English art collector, writer and publisher, and was considered an authority on English caricaturists. He also designed theatrical costumes and invented a system for reproducing 18th century colour prints.

    Manuscript draft of a short story with the title ‘All About a Bulldog’, set in country New South Wales, signed and dated at the end ‘Joseph Grego, 23 Granville Square, Pentonville, N.C. January 1864’. The two central characters are Scottish immigrants, one of whom is bitten by a snake.

    Manuscript portion of an alternative version of the same story, from the same notebook, but in a different hand and unsigned.
