General note

Vol.3 contains an additional photograph titled 'Circular Quay, Sydney Cove, 1873' and handwritten captions on three of the photographs. An Alfred Lee bookplate is affixed inside the front cover. The presence of this bookplate indicates that the volume was in the possession of David Scott Mitchell who acquired the majority of Alfred Lee's collection.

Photograph no. 12 captioned in ink: "Phillip Street in 1873, at the corner of Bent Street, showing the Government Printing Office partly completed."

Photograph no. 44 captioned in ink: "Bridge Street in 1873, looking towards George Street. The fir trees protected by a railing were the remains of some that stood in the grounds of the old Government House. On the opposite side of the road can be seen the premises of the monumental mason Joseph Chester which stood between Phillip and the present Young Street."

Photograph no. 45 captioned in ink: "Geroge Street in the early seventies. McGrath's hotel on the left stood between Bridge and Hunter Streets. The building on the right was the London Chartered Bank of Australia on the corner of Jamison Street. In the distance the scaffolding can be seen around the General Post Office in course of erection."
