  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The War Veterans Home in Legacy Park at Narrabeen was opened on Anzac Day 25th April 1939. Legacy often held fund raising events for the home and gave social activities in the area especially for children.

    Social and recreational activities probably involving members of Legacy during the 1940s-1950s. Several men in the images are wearing Legacy lapel badges. Locations have been identified as being in the Narrabeen and Pittwater areas.

    Includes glass negatives of groups of adults and children boarding boats; teenagers on yachts; arrival of Santa at picnic; picnic scenes of games, swimming, groups eating; women and children in bathing costumes.

    Box 2
    Includes glass negatives of portraits of young girls, teenagers, elderly people, football teams; sporting events of running, high jump and awarding the winners, (men have Legacy badges in lapels); scenes at the War Veterans Home Churchill House in Legacy Park Narrabeen Lakes; images of a large house; images of a 'Victory Doll' for a guessing competition fundraiser at 6 pence a ticket run by the Legacy Club Women's Auxiliary; Scouts and guides; boy in cowboy suit; an interior of a milk bar serving soft drinks; an unknown town.
