Pat Skinner (1960-2008) completed an MA in Writing at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Education at the University of Sydney, a Graduate Certificate in Writing at UTS and a Diploma of Editing and Book Publishing at Macleay College. She posthumously received a Doctor of Creative Arts from the University of Technology, Sydney in 2010.

Skinner was a prolific writer of short stories which have been published in Australian magazines and anthologies. She also wrote poems and plays, some of which were produced at the Griffin Theatre. She won several awards for her short stories including the 2000 Banjo Paterson award for prose. She was a member of the Society of Editors (NSW) and worked as an editorial assistant for Southerly from 1996 to 2008.
Her published works include Bonding with Boofy (short stories), 2000; Spirit of the Rose (short stories), 2002; Brolga (novel), 2006.

Includes drafts of short stories, plays and novels; correspondence; note books; academic papers; newscuttings and other printed material; and photographs. This collection comprises a complete record of both her writing and academic careers.
