  • Scope and Content
    Commemorative woodblock print presented as a family plaque/certificate with oval shaped photographs of the two brothers, Osborne Alcorn and Cecil Alcorn, who served in the First World War, and the following inscription: '1914 The World War 1918 / Two men Went Forth From this Home / Osborne Herbert Alcorn 1917 / Cecil Augustus Alcorn 1915 / to fight for the preservation of Australia's nationhood', ca. 1918. This item was hung above the mantlepiece in the lounge room of the Alcorn family house at McGraths Hill.
    The creator of the woodblock print was artist Paul Windle, late of the 7th Battalion who had been discharged medically unfit in 1917 and returned to Australia. In September 1918 he applied for and was granted copyright for a 'Home Honor Board' design, of which this is one example.
