    Rev. Thomas Kendall was a missionary with the Church Mission Society in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, 1815-1823.

    Sarah Anne Bowden (1849-1926) married John Ebenezer Bowden (1836-1921), the grandson of Rev. Thomas Kendall.

    Booklet containing transcription of Thomas Kendall's 1814 journal of his missionary work in New Zealand (copied in 1920 in the Mitchell Library) and including provenance and Kendall background information.

    Journal of a visit to New Zealand with fellow missionary Mr William Hall prior to establishing a mission there. Includes description of Hobart area, Tasmania, native settlements, burial and marriage custom of the Bay of Islands and copies of letters by Samuel Marsden to the Natives of New Zealand.
