  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Toby Wildon was born in England and served in the army as a driver, but suffered a lifetime of ill-health due to lung damage. He married Eileen Kilpatrick of Naracoorte, South Australia. He became a taxi driver during the depression of the 1930's, as well as before and after WWII. The manuscript gives his recollections of life as a taxi driver in Sydney during these years. Observations of the taxi industry, evading legal sanctions when obtaining sly grog, types of passengers, and other drivers of the road.
