    "The following list has been compiled from the ships' logs long since transferred to the Public Record Office from the Admiralty (classified as Captains' Logs, Explorations etc) and from the series recently preserved at the Admiralty (transferred to the Public Record Office in January 1910), notice being also taken of the several Official and Private Logs, which are known to be preserved elsewhere. The Admiralty Logs have been grouped in this list under the several voyages of discovery to the South Seas between 1768 and 1780".
