  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Joseph Rumore, pharmacist, was born in Poggioreale, Sicily, in 1921. He arrived in Sydney with his mother and younger brother Tony on the Otranto in 1934. His father had arrived on the same ship in 1930, and ran fruit shops in Drummoyne and Rockdale. Joe graduated in Pharmacy from Sydney University in 1946. He opened his first business in Punchbowl in 1948, followed by one in Bankstown in 1957. He married Grace Maria Arena in 1952 and they had six children. Joe served his profession with distinction and was made a Life Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia in 1995.
