Elizabeth Farm, Australia's oldest surviving homestead, was built in 1793 for John Macarthur, known as the father of the wool industry, and his wife Elizabeth.

William Swann purchased the property in January 1904, with six acres of land, for £600. The Swann family lived at Elizabeth Farm in Rosehill, N.S.W., from December 1905 until 1968, when the house was sold to the Elizabeth Farm Museum Trust. After restoration commenced, the State Planning Authority assumed control of the house and it later passed to the Heritage Council of New South Wales. The restoration was completed by the New South Wales Government Architect.

Elizabeth Farm is now maintained as a house museum by the Historic Houses Trust of NSW.
