This stipple and aquatint engraving while titled as a portrait of the accomplished British Royal Naval officer Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson (1758-1805) closely resembles Francis Bartolozzi’s engraving of Captain James Cook (1728-1779) wearing a naval uniform and a wig, based on a portrait by G. Webber. The work is trimmed within the plate mark.
