  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Sydney Charles Barnes was born in Cootamundra, the son of John F. Barnes who represented Gundagai in the State Parliament. He joined the Sydney Harbour Trust on his return from the South African War, and served for more than 38 years with the Trust and the Maritime Services Board (MSB). He retired from the post of secretary of the MSB in 1939. He died in 1940 at his home in Manly aged 65.
