Joseph Leonard Lillymann (1854-1929) was born in Richmond, N.S.W. and moved to Narrabri with his family in 1864. In 1881 he married Victoria Ross Arndell, the couple had nine children. He worked in a saddlery business before entering the cordial and aerated water manufacturing. He opened a business called 'J.L. Lillyman, Artesian water and cordial manufacturer' which was a very successful business. In 1921 he handed the business over to his sons who changed the name changed to Lillyman Bros. Joseph Lillyman died in Sydney in 1929.
