In August 1983 Dr Sydney Baggs, a director of ECA (Earth Covered Architecture) Space Design Pty Ltd organised the First International Conference on Earth Sheltered Buildings, in conjunction with the University of New South Wales and Oklahoma State University. Architect David W. Baggs, son of Sydney and Joan Baggs was also involved with the development of the concept.
