    Robert Rede was Resident Goldfields Commissioner at the time of the Eureka rebellion by miners at Ballarat in December 1854.

    Three letters received from the Colonial Secretary's Office, Melbourne, 30 Nov. 1854, 5 Dec. 1854 and 24 Oct. 1856

    Papers labelled 'Report of Resident Commissioner on state of affairs up to attack on stockade and Report of Capt. Thomas Officer Commanding'.

    Printed material includes two posters and other published Victorian official papers. Posters are, firstly, a General Order issued by Edward Macarthur, Head Quarters, Ballarat, 6 Dec. 1854 setting forth various provisions under Military Law; secondly, a commendation by Charles Hotham of the inhabitants of Creswick's Creek, 9 Dec. 1854
