Item 1a is inscribed on the "Autographs" page at rear: "To Colonel Travers D.S.O. From the Middle Watch Keeper [N.?] Y. [S.?] Wood. Happy Days".

Cover of Item 1a is printed on brown crepe cardboard, cover of Item 1b on red crepe cardboard.
