  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Douglas Holleley became interested in Luna Park in 1981 following the Ghost Train fire in June 1979 and the subsequent closure of the Park. He developed a project to document Luna Park during the period of its closure, and he returned to the Park again in 1982, 1991 and 1995 to photograph it. The project was then documented in his PhD thesis "Luna Park: image of a fun fair". His thesis provides significant documentation and detail on Edward Hopkins life, career and work at Luna Park, and was in part based on recorded conversations with Hopkins.
