John Dorman, environmental activist, worked for the NSW Department of Child Welfare and retired in 1984. He was the NSW State President for the National Parks Association and President of Newcastle Flora & Fauna Society and published a book for the society, `Myall Lakes National Park : conflict over mining', in 1971. His papers document the long and ultimately successful campaign by conservationists to protect the Myall Lakes region from sandmining and establish it as a national park.
