  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Papers of Wilfred Grey Saxon, Private Secretary to NSW Premier W. A. Holman who later worked for H. D. McIntosh in Australia and Europe. Saxon gave the papers to Dan Morgan, editor of the North Shore Times, following the publication of his book about NSW Minister T. J. Ley. In 1981, Morgan gave the papers to John Flower, who added further research material related to H. D. McIntosh until 2003. Flower lent the papers to Frank van Staten who was writing a book about H. D. McIntosh in 2004 and Sandra Hall also used the papers to research her book about Ezra Norton in 2008.

  • Scope and Content
    Wilfred Grey Saxon papers, ca. 1915 –ca. 1932, including correspondence, newspaper clippings, printed ephemera, research notes, and photocopied articles. Material relates mainly to the Australian entrepreneur Hugh Donald McIntosh, his associates, business dealings, travel and residence, 'Broome Park', in Kent, England. Material also associated with William Arthur Holman, Thomas John Ley, Ezra Norton and William Packer among others. Includes some later research material related to H. D. McIntosh compiled by John Flower and others, ca. 1979- ca. 2003.
